Abigail Bensman (she/her) is a native Texan…but she’s from Austin, the cool part of Texas (Keep Austin Weird!), with a New Yorker mother, who introduced her to Musical Theatre and Broadway at a brain-chemistry-altering young age.
Abigail is fresh off of the '23-'24 HAIRSPRAY NATIONAL TOUR, as the fun-loving, free-wheeling, Brenda!
She is a Theatre Content Creator on TikTok and YouTube with 74K+ highly engaged followers, across both platforms, known for inspiring, supporting, and educating young performers.
Abigail is a 2021 B. Iden Payne award winner for her performance in Impact Art's - Bring it On (Eva). Notable credits include: Ride the Cyclone (Ocean), Bright Star (Alice Murphy), Newsies (Katherine Plumber), Sweeney Todd (Johanna), Tarzan the Musical (Jane Porter), Beauty and the Beast (Belle), and Into the Woods (Cinderella).
After her Zilker Theatre Production’s performance, Katherine Plumber in Newsies, Abigail developed a passion for accessible theatre for all. Zilker Theatre Productions is the city of Austin’s free summer musical in the city’s landmark, Zilker Park, and has been an iconic Austin event for over 60 years. Approximately 45,000 people attend this free large-scale musical each summer.
In Abigail's free time, she loves hanging with her rescue dogs and cat, sewing, participating in Best Buddies (an organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities) and making theatre videos on TikTok and YouTube @abigail_bens.
